BP 4DAT Legal
Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 3, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the BP 4DAT apps for iOS and Android handle blood pressure data, health platform integrations (Apple Health and Google Health Connect), medical record sharing, and other personal information. It applies to both apps and to this website.
The Short Version
- Your readings stay on your device. BP 4DAT has no accounts, no analytics, no ads, and no servers — we never receive, store, or access your health data.
- Every connection — Apple Health, Health Connect, or sharing with a medical provider — is off until you explicitly turn it on, and you can turn it off at any time.
- We never sell data. There is nothing for us to sell.
Who We Are
BP 4DAT is published by 4DAT. Questions about privacy can be sent to [email protected].
Data The Apps Process
- Blood pressure readings (systolic, diastolic), optional pulse, and timestamps you enter.
- Optional notes and measurement context you add to a reading.
- An optional display name used to label local records and reports.
- App settings, such as reminder schedules and defaults.
All of this is processed and stored only on your device. None of it is transmitted to 4DAT.
On-Device Storage & Security
- iOS: readings are stored in the app's private local database, protected by iOS data protection. Health data is never stored in iCloud by BP 4DAT.
- Android: readings are stored in app-private storage inside the app sandbox. Cloud device backup of app data is disabled so health data never leaves the device through backups.
- The apps make no network connections that carry your health data. Reminder notifications never include reading values.
Apple Health (HealthKit) — iOS
- Optional and opt-in: nothing connects until you choose Connect & Sync in Settings → Apple Health. iOS then asks for permission, limited to blood pressure and heart rate types.
- With your permission, readings you log are written to Apple Health and blood pressure recorded by other apps or monitors is imported, so your history is complete.
- You can revoke access at any time in the iOS Health app, and turn off automatic import in BP 4DAT's settings.
- HealthKit data is never used for advertising, marketing, or data-mining, and is never shared with third parties except when you explicitly initiate a transfer.
Google Health Connect — Android
- Optional and opt-in: nothing connects until you turn on Health Connect sync in Settings, and Android then asks for permission, limited to blood pressure read/write.
- With your permission, readings you log are written to Health Connect and blood pressure from other apps and monitors is imported. Health Connect's store is on your device.
- You can revoke access at any time in the Health Connect app; turning sync off in BP 4DAT stops all reads and writes immediately.
- Health Connect data is used only for this user-facing sync. It is never used for advertising, never sold, and never transferred to data brokers or analytics platforms.
Consumer Health Data & Medical Sharing
Blood pressure readings are consumer health data. BP 4DAT collects none of it for itself; the only movement of your data is movement you initiate. The apps include an optional Medical Exchange feature, governed by a separate, explicit opt-in consent:
- FHIR export: you can package your readings as an industry-standard FHIR file and share it yourself with a clinician or portal. The file contains readings and timestamps only — no name or identifiers.
- Sending to the VA: happens through Apple Health or Health Connect plus the VA's own Share My Health Data app — BP 4DAT itself transmits nothing to the VA.
- Future VA import: a read-only connection to import readings the VA recorded at your visits will operate under this same consent and will be described here before it launches.
- Withdrawing consent: one tap in the app turns medical data sharing off immediately. Data you already shared with a recipient (for example, your care team) remains with them under their rules and their privacy practices.
We do not sell consumer health data, do not share it with advertisers or data brokers, and process it only as needed to provide the features you request. Because your data lives only on your device, deleting it in the app (or uninstalling the app) removes everything we could ever be asked to delete.
Supplies Section & Amazon Links
The Supplies tab contains affiliate links to products on Amazon. As an Amazon Associate, 4DAT earns from qualifying purchases. Links open in your browser; anything you do on Amazon is governed by Amazon's own privacy policy. No health data is ever sent to Amazon, and nothing about your readings influences what is shown.
Permissions
- Notifications: requested only if you set measurement reminders.
- Health permissions: requested only when you opt in to Apple Health or Health Connect, limited to blood pressure and heart rate.
- Photos/camera (iOS): requested only if you use photo-based reading capture, and images stay on your device.
Retention And Deletion
Your data remains on your device until you delete individual readings or uninstall the app. Data synced to Apple Health or Health Connect is managed in those platforms and can be deleted there. Data you shared with a provider is governed by that provider's retention policies. 4DAT retains nothing, because 4DAT receives nothing.
Children
BP 4DAT is intended for adults. It is not directed to children and we do not knowingly process children's data.
Not A Medical Device
BP 4DAT is a personal tracker for educational and informational purposes. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. Always consult a healthcare professional about your readings and before making medical decisions.
Changes To This Policy
We may update this policy as BP 4DAT features evolve — for example, when the VA import connection launches. Material updates will include a revised "Last updated" date on this page, and features that change how data moves will ask for your consent again in the app.
